Tenure Track Assistant Professor Position in Developmental Biology - State University of New York at Fredonia

The Biology Department at the State University of New York at Fredonia has an opening for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level for a developmental biologist beginning in the Fall of 2018. The Biology Department at Fredonia has recently opened a new science center housing advanced molecular research tools including confocal and fluorescent microscopy, cell culture, and microinjection facilities. Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in a relevant molecular discipline by August 2018 and have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and advising. Postdoctoral research and teaching experience is expected, expertise in developmental neurobiology is preferred.  Ideal candidates will bring research expertise involving a model organism that lends itself to an active research program involving undergraduate students.  This research program must lead to grant applications and publication in peer reviewed journals.  Instructional responsibilities include courses in first year introductory biology, non-majors courses, upper-level developmental biology, and courses in the candidate's area of expertise.

The Department of Biology offers Biology, Molecular Genetics, Biology Adolescence Education, Medical Technology and Exercise Science programs at the undergraduate level, and Master’s degree programs (thesis and non-thesis).  The Biology Department is located in the beautiful Fredonia Science Center which opened in 2014.  In addition to funds for construction, $4.2 million was spent on new scientific equipment for these programs making them some of the best equipped in New York State.
