Postdoctoral Position - Vanderbilt University

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Wenbiao Chen in the Department of Molecular Physiology & Biophysics at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. The Chen lab uses a multidisciplinary approach in zebrafish, islet cell culture, and ex vivo mammalian islets to identify mechanisms that control the proliferation and function of islet a- and b-cells.  Current focuses are to determine how amino acids regulates a-cell proliferation and function, and how high fat diet causes b-cell dysfunction and death.

The candidates should have a PhD and/or MD in a related field. We are looking for highly-motivated individuals who have research experience in cell and molecular biology, genomic/transcriptomic analysis, and/or metabolism.  Experience in islet biology, bioinformatics, and/or zebrafish genetics is a plus.

Vanderbilt University has an outstanding, collaborative islet research community. Vanderbilt has the longest continually funded NIH Diabetes Research and Training Center (DRTC). The university is situated in the heart of Nashville, TN, one of the most popular, and culturally dynamic US cities.

Interested candidates should send CV and contact information for three references to Dr. Wenbiao Chen at the email address wenbiao.chen@vanderbilt.edu for consideration.
