A postdoctoral research position is available at the National Institute on Deafness and other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Our laboratory is located in multi-disciplinary Neuroscience Research Center on the main NIH campus in Bethesda, MD.
Our group utilizes the zebrafish model system to study hair cells, the sensory receptors for hearing and balance. Specifically, we use this in vivo model to understand the functional and developmental processes that regulate hair-cell synaptic transmission. We utilize optical indicators to examine hair-cell function and CRISPR technology understand genes required for proper synapse formation and function.
NIH intramural postdoctoral fellows have an opportunity to apply for K99/R00 awards to expedite their transition and fund independent research positions in the extramural community.

Skills and Qualifications:
We are seeking a motivated scientist with:
- PhD and/or M.D in Neuroscience or related discipline
- Preferred expertise electrophysiology, programing or advanced microscopy.
