Junior Research Group Leader at CRTD, Dresden

At the Center for Regenerative Therapies TU Dresden (CRTD), the position of a 

Junior Research Group Leader (subject to personal qualification, remuneration according to salary group E 15 TV-L with 
Tenure-Track to a permanent W2 Professorship)

is to be filled as soon as possible. The position is initially limited to six years according to the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG (Fixed Term Research Contracts Act) and aims at obtaining further academic qualification. Competitive funding will be provided for the position of the group leader and their group, depending on qualification and subject to negotiation. During the fifth year, at the latest, a tenure track evaluation will be carried out by an inter-faculty and inter-departmental commission. Provided a positive evaluation result, you will be appointed to a permanent chair (W2). The evaluation procedure is based on mutually agreed evaluation criteria at the start of the service. Essential performance criteria are scientific success in the form of relevant and high-quality scientific achievements documented by publications, the acquisition and successful management of third-party research funds, commitment to and success in teaching programmes, promoting young researchers, networking in the scientific community as well as commitment in academic self-administration. 

The CRTD is a research institute comprising numerous core groups and a network of more than 85 research groups working in the areas of haematology, diabetes, neural regeneration and degeneration as well as bone regeneration. 

Using vertebrate model organisms, you will investigate tissue regeneration with a focus on stem and progenitor cell research using modern molecular and cellular, immunological, advanced imaging and physiological approaches, with a long-term goal towards potential clinical application. You will conduct independent interdisciplinary research in your research field at an international level. This includes the conception and coordination of the group’s research programme, involvement of collaborative partners and successful implementation of the research activities, publications and successful acquisition of third-party funding. You will also be involved in the institute’s teaching obligations and will predominantly teach in CRTD’s master’s programme “Regenerative Biology and Medicine” in English. 

We welcome excellent international and national applications with a strong background on regenerative biology in one of the above research fields of the CRTD. We strongly encourage persons to apply who wish to establish their first research group and plan to apply for or have received third-party funding (i.e. ERC starting grant, DFG Emmy Noether programme etc.) We require a university degree in natural or medical sciences, a doctoral or PhD degree, an outstanding international scientific track record as well as proven outstanding achievements in your research field. You must have experience in the independent management of research projects as well as knowledge in the acquisition of third-party funds. The prerequisites for appointment to the unlimited chair (W2) after 

the successful tenure track evaluationare based on§ 58 oftheAct onthe Autonomyof InstitutionsofHigher Education in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSFG).
