JOINT POST-DOCTORAL ASSOCIATE POSITION - Hoffman and Girgenti Laboratories, Yale University

The Hoffman and Girgenti Laboratories at Yale University are recruiting for a joint post-doctoral position, available immediately.

The main goal of the Hoffman Laboratory is to gain insights into the roles of genes associated with neuropsychiatric disorders at the molecular, cellular, and circuit levels to develop improved pharmacological treatments. To accomplish this, we use zebrafish CRISPR-generated mutants of risk genes to analyze their function in the developing brain and behavioral circuits. The main goal of the Girgenti Laboratory is to investigate the functional genomics of neuropsychiatric disorders focusing on post-traumatic stress disorder.

We are seeking post-doctoral researchers interested in the following projects:

  • Screening the functionality of genes associated with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

  • Structural, functional, molecular, and circuit characterization of zebrafish risk gene mutants

  • Pharmaco-behavioral profiling to identify new pharmacological candidates

  • Functional genomics of neuropsychiatric disorders using human postmortem brain tissue

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in neuroscience, genetics, or a related field. Preference will be given to those with prior experience with animal models of neuropsychiatric/neurological disorders.

To apply:

Please send an email with your CV, contact information for 3 references, and cover letter to: Dr. Ellen Hoffman(ellen.hoffman@yale.edu) and Dr. Matt Girgenti(matthew.girgenti@yale.edu) using the subject line: Postdoctoral applicant: Your name. Applicants are encouraged to outline research projects of interest.
