Research technician 1 - St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto
The Zebrafish Facility at the Keenan Research Centre for Biomedical Sciences (St. Michael’s Hospital) in Toronto (Canada) is currently looking for a Research Technician Level 1. This is a full-time temporary position at St. Michael’s Hospital starting in May 31, 2021. This position could lead to a full-time permanent position after a 6-month evaluation period.

Duties and responsibilities:
Maintaining of zebrafish colonies, breeding, nursing, feeding and growing zebrafish lines.
Genotyping (PCR, electrophoresis).
Standard wet bench techniques.
Egg micro-injection
Interact with other technicians, students, and scientists.
Responsible of the day-to-day zebrafish room management.
Ordering supplies and maintaining inventory.
Routine organization and maintenance of zebrafish facility.
Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor degree in biology or fish biology. Master’s degree in biology is preferred.
Research and husbandry experience with zebrafish.
Excellent laboratory skills with zebrafish.
Aptitude for detail, independence and problem solving
Superior organizational and time management skills to manage the lab.
Experience in neuroscience and/or drug discovery would be preferred.
Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
