The Max Planck Institute for Brain Research (MPI for Brain Research) in Frankfurt/Main is a vibrant research institution in the field of basic research in Neuroscience with a focus on understanding the functions of the brain’s circuits. The institute is located in a state-of-the-art research building on Campus Riedberg (housing approx. 300 employees) with modern labs, animal husbandry and support facilities (http://www.brain.mpg.de ).

Our researchers from many different backgrounds (e.g., molecular biology, genetics, electrophysiology, imaging, behavior, physics, computer science and mathematics) collaborate in an interactive and integrative environment to investigate the structure and function of neuronal networks.

The Schuman Lab (Department of Synaptic Plasticity) is looking for (a)

Postdoctoral Fellow(s) (m/f/div)

to examine the neural substrates of learning, memory and social behavior at the synaptic and network level using zebrafish (e.g. Anneser et al., Nature, 2020; https://doi.org/10.1038/s41586-020-2988-z ).

Your profile:

The ideal candidate has a Ph.D. and is an independent and creative thinker with a strong work ethic and significant experience using zebrafish and molecular biology, imaging and/or behavioral testing. This position is a unique opportunity to work in a highly interdisciplinary environment that is equipped with a new, state-of-the-art fish facility, as well as ample imaging and electrophysiology resources.
