Zebrafish Facility Manager – Yale University, New Haven, CT

The Zebrafish Facility Manager for the Nicoli lab (http://nicolilab.com ) in the Yale Cardiovascular Research Center (CVRC) is responsible for supervising the care and maintenance of zebrafish in a medium-sized facility (approximately 1,500 tanks). Duties include: culturing live feed, genotyping, control of water quality parameters, aquaculture system maintenance, monitoring fish health, breeding and rearing zebrafish. Additionally, the facility manager is also responsible for the training of new aquatic facility users, writing SOPs, purchasing lab items, equipment maintenance, and space organization.

Assist researchers with animal procedures and appropriate procedural techniques

Work closely with research staff regarding animal care and use issues

Assure facility and research are in compliance with state and federal regulations and guidelines, including AAALAC accreditation

Provide assistance with experimental work on an as-needed basis

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelors degree in related scientific field

Applicant must be organized and demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred:

Masters degree in related scientific field

Experience in aquatic animal husbandry and research

Understanding of aquarium systems, ability to troubleshoot technical issues, perform technical procedures in accordance with established policies and SOPs
