Job Summary

Work on the zebrafish model of Stargardt Disease (juvenile onset macular degeneration) our lab created. Stargardt disease affects more than 1:8,000 people. This position is funded by a Foundation Fighting Blindness grant.

 

Essential Functions

· Supervises undergraduates

· Breeds zebrafish and does zebrafish husbandry

· Performs confocal microscopy and image analysis

· Uses FACs analyses to isolate cell populations

· Performs RNA-seq on select cell populations

· Uses common molecular biology techniques

· Writes manuscripts

Other Functions

· Work collaboratively and effectively to promote teamwork, diversity, equality and inclusiveness.

· Work in partnership with colleagues within the CNS community and across the campus to support the Dean’s strategic priorities.

· Perform other duties as assigned in support of the mission and goals of the College of Natural Sciences.

 

Requirements

· A PhD in biological sciences (such as: Neurosciences or Cell and Molecular Biology).

· Preference will be given to a relatively recent Ph.D. who wishes to collaborate on existing projects while pursuing a path toward an independent career.

Salary Information

Salary will meet the NIH postdoctoral fellowships scale.
