Postdoctoral Research Associate-Zebrafish Cardiovascular Research, Falcon Lab, Qatar University Biomedical Research Center, Doha, Qatar
A talented postdoctoral research associate is needed to join Qatar University Biomedical Research Center (BRC), Zebrafish Facility, to work in the research team of Assoc. Prof. Huseyin Yalcin, head of the Zebrafish Facility at the center. BRC Zebrafish facility was established in 2016, and since then has been conducting multiple projects in the fields of genetics, cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, neurological disorders and toxicology. Facility is very active in local and international collaborations, which resulted in more than 50 high quality publications. Facility is currently expanding with new husbandry systems, new Zebrafish lines as well as research fields. The Post-Doc research associate is expected to actively engage in these activities. Main objective for this position is adaptation of novel Zebrafish Techniques in the center, such as Crispr, Morpholino, and Xenograft. The candidate is expected to apply these techniques to ongoing and new studies and train other researchers in the facility in these techniques. The project is for 2 years. Qatar University is gradually rising in the world university rankings and is currently ranked 208th worldwide and 2nd in the Arab world in QS rankings.
Qualifications and skills: : Applicants must hold a Ph.D. from a reputable institution in Biomedical Science, Biomedical Engineering, Health Science, or a related field with experience in the following areas:
Zebrafish Cardiovascular research experience,
Having recognized scholarly output in reputable journals in the field,
Genetic techniques in Zebrafish such as Crispr-Cas9 and Morpholino,
Microscopic (fluorescent/confocal) imaging of Zebrafish,
Molecular biology assays and DNA/RNA sequencing,
Knowledge and some experience on handling zebrafish embryo/adult,
Knowledge and some experience about Zebrafish husbandry systems,
Preferred: Zebrafish Cancer, Diabetes, Toxicology, Neurological Disorders research experience
Preferred: Novel Zebrafish techniques experience, such as Xenograft
Preferred: Zebrafish exercise and stimulation assays, embryo/adult motility systems
Preferred: Prior Post-Doc experience
Job Duties:
Develop an excellent research with high integrity
Generate quality outcomes and peer reviewed publications
Establish new research protocols and procedures.
Responsible for laboratory operations.
Act as a mentor for QU junior researchers and graduate students
Organize training sessions and workshops
Teach at selected graduate level courses at the university as guest lecturer
