Zebrafish Postdoc Position at Qatar University Biomedical Research Center – Cardiovascular Investigations

As Qatar University Biomedical Research Center, we are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to work under Principal Investigator, Huseyin Yalcin in our center. Dr Yalcin is also the head of the Zebrafish Facility in our center. The investigations for this position are mainly in the cardiovascular field, and are relevant to genetics, toxicology, and cancer areas. The aim of this position is to bring zebrafish expertise to our center.

The candidate must hold a Ph.D. from a reputable institution in Biomedical Science, Biomedical Engineering, Health Science, or a related field with substantial Zebrafish experience. Expertise in genetic techniques such as morpholino, and Crispr is expected. Knowledge and some experience on handling zebrafish embryo/adult, and experience with husbandry systems is preferred. Experience with novel techniques such as Xenograft or DNA/RNA sequencing is plus.

This is a 2 year position, with tax free annual salary of 56,000 USD, free university accommodation, yearly round trip ticket to home country, health insurance and other benefits according to Qatar University HR policy

Our Zebrafish facility was established in 2016, and since then has been conducting multiple projects in the fields of genetics, cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, neurological disorders and toxicology. Facility is very active in local and international collaborations, which resulted in more than 60 high quality publications. Facility is currently expanding with new husbandry systems, new Zebrafish lines as well as research fields. The Post-Doc research associate is expected to actively engage in these activities. Main objective for this position is adaptation of novel Zebrafish Techniques in the center, such as Crispr, Morpholino, and Xenograft. The candidate is expected to apply these techniques to ongoing and new studies and train other researchers in the facility in these techniques.
