Zebrafish Lab Manager, Jazwinska Lab, University of Fribourg, Fribourg, Switzerland
The zebrafish lab manager is potentially a permanent position at 80 % or 100 % work rate in the lab of Prof. Anna Jazwinska.
The zebrafish facility is an independent unit at the Department of Biology, with its own research space and a fully equipped aquarium system.
Our laboratory investigates the mechanisms of organ regeneration in adult zebrafish, focusing on the heart, fin and skeletal muscle.

Main responsibilities:
Participation in the fish facility management:
· Screening, monitoring, and breeding of zebrafish strains
· Maintenance of the fish facility, including feeding
· Organizational tasks, management of databases and records consistent with existing templates (i.e. zebrafish stocks, standard operating procedures, experimenal protocols etc.)
· Training of new lab members and visiting students on using the zebrafish facility and animal procedures
Participation in the research projects:
· Contribution to scientific discussions and bringing ideas to research projects.
· Lab procedures, such as molecular biology, in situ hybridization, immunofluorescence, microinjections, histology.
· Imaging using confocal and stereomicroscope.
· Implementing technical and scientific advancements in the zebrafish field.
Qualifications:
· PhD degree in biology or a related field of life sciences.
· First author publication related to zebrafish projects.
· Experience with microinjections and genetics (Tol2 transgenesis, CRISPR/Cas9).
· Imaging and microscopy methods (confocal, stereomicroscope, image processing).
· Basic molecular biology (PCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA purification, bacterial culture, restriction digestion, cloning, sequencing, preparing reagents etc.).
· Proficiency in running experiments according to protocols, and troubleshooting.
· English is a mandatory language, but knowledge of either French or German is a plus.
Salary will be determined dependently on the academic age and work experience, and it can increase each year, according to the university guidelines.
