The Center for Comparative Medicine provides for the care, health and well-being of all research animals used in the pursuit of scientific achievement and excellence at Baylor College of Medicine. CCM provides the highest quality veterinary and animal care and acts as a resource for the faculty on veterinary and scientific issues relating to the use of laboratory animals. Under general supervision, provides routine care and handling of laboratory animals in a safe and sanitary manner. Aquaculture/water chemistry experience will be a plus, but on-site training will be provided.

Job Duties
Feeds and waters animals.
Changes animal caging as scheduled, sanitizing rooms, equipment and hallways.
Conducts daily animal health checks.
Applies permanent identification devices.
Ensures that activities are in compliance with AAALAC standards.
Signs multiple husbandry logs.
Transfers animals between rooms and facilities in accordance to facility regulations.
Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or GED.
One year of relevant experience.
Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS).

Preferred Qualifications
Aquaculture/water chemistry experience will be a plus.
Basic understanding of dilutions, basic chemical recipes, plumbing, aquaculture filtration, fish handling and fish health are desired skill sets.
