Postdoctoral Researcher, Lyons Lab, University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, United Kingdom
The Opportunity:
We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to join the group of Prof. David Lyons at the University of Edinburgh to investigate mechanisms of neurodevelopment and neurodegeneration.
The role will allow you to explore projects investigating mechanisms of neuronal responses to demyelination using zebrafish, or the biology of how axons come to have such different diameters in our nervous system, an overlooked feature of neural circuit structure and function.
Approaches will include, but are not limited to RNA seq, cell biology, in vivo imaging, molecular genetic targeting, functional analyses from electrophysiology to behaviour.
This post is full-time (35 hours per week), however, we are open to considering flexible working patterns. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.
The post is available for 36 months.
The salary for this post is £40,247- £47,874 per annum.
Your skills and attributes for success:
PhD (viva completed) in neuroscience, developmental biology, or similar
Ability to communicate complex information clearly, orally and in writing
Extensive expertise in molecular biology or molecular genetics
Experience of using zebrafish as a model is desirable
