The Baraban laboratory ( https://barabanlab.ucsf.edu ) at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to investigate brain-wide seizure dynamics in epileptic zebrafish. Epilepsy is a common neurological condition associated with abnormal brain activity. Intractable epilepsies, especially in children, can be genetic. As available animal models for genetic epilepsies are limited, we used CRISPR technology to generate nearly 40 stable zebrafish lines representing gene mutations seen in human. These models have contributed greatly to our understanding of epilepsy and recent discovery of novel drug therapies currently in clinical trials.
Required Qualifications
We are looking for a highly motivated and qualified postdoc to join our research team. To be eligible, candidates must hold or expect to obtain a PhD degree before starting. A PhD degree in a relevant field such as biology or neuroscience is preferred. Previous experience working with zebrafish and/or calcium imaging techniques is an advantage but not required. We encourage applicants with a strong academic background and a passion for translational research to apply.
