Research Technician in Functional Genomics Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Oklahoma City, OK

A Research Technician position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Gaurav Varshney at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF). We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and independent individual with strong interpersonal skills to play a key role in advancing the lab’s research mission.

The Varshney Lab is focused on addressing a major challenge in human genetics: systematically validating candidate disease genes identified through genome-wide association studies (GWAS) and whole-exome sequencing. To accomplish this, the lab develops and applies zebrafish disease models to investigate gene function and disease mechanisms.

The successful candidate will use zebrafish and emerging genomic technologies, including CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing and single-cell genomics, to study the pathology of candidate disease genes. The lab’s research spans multiple disciplines, including genetics, genomics, molecular biology, and developmental biology.

Applicants should have a BA/BS or MS degree in Biological Sciences or a related field, with experience in molecular biology and/or genetics. Experience with zebrafish is required.
