EMBO workshop on "Long-distance cell-cell signalling in development and disease", 05-08 September, Exeter, UK

Dear friends and colleagues

Tom Kornberg, Isabel Guerrero and I are organising an EMBO workshop on long-distance cell-cell communication in September. We believe this is going to be a excellent workshop with top speakers.

Surprisingly, we are going to organise this in the LSI in Exeter - so we will host one of the first face-to-face workshops this year. And we are truly excited about this fact. We believe that only in such a setting, are we able to share unpublished results, enjoy small discussion groups, and talk about general concepts. We believe that we all missed these small and highly productive meetings including the social events in the evenings. Furthermore, we believe such a workshop is also instrumental in establishing contact between senior PhD students/postdocs and PIs and thus promoting the careers of the early career researchers.

To organise this workshop in a COVID-19 safe environment, we have a sophisticated safety concept in place including daily lateral flow test for all participants, large lecture halls to space out and many events outside. Furthermore, Devon has an incidence of COVID-19 cases below 10 (per 100.000 population) and we have NO (!) positive cases on our campuses over the last 14 days. So we believe the LSI in Exeter is a safe area.

We would like to encourage you and your lab members to come to Exeter, and finally talk science and enjoy the beautiful Southwest of England. Please follow this link:

The registration deadline is the 4th of June. We are aware that there are some travel restrictions still in place at the moment, but are also very confident that they will be lifted in Summer.

We would be grateful if you could promote the workshops in your group and in your institute and, therefore, we attach a poster. The twitter hashtag for the workshop is #21cellsignalling

We are looking forward to hosting you all in Exeter.

Best wishes,

Steffen, Tom and Isabel
